On Tuesday, March 23rd, several students from class 1A (group 1) along with an English teacher, Proffesor Marzena Kossak-Wąchała, took part in a lecture entitled ‘’Navigating U.S. Foreign Policy Decision-Making: The Core Elements’. The lecture was held by Ambassador Dr. Paul J. Dobriansky, foreign policy expert and former diplomat specializing in national security affairs. She is a Senior Fellow in the Future of Diplomacy Project at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and is Vice Chair of the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security at the Atlantic Council.
The meeting was organised within 17 Festiwal Nauki Akademii WSB Online and started at 4 p.m on ClickMeeting platform.
The exposition revolved around decision-making process of the United States foreign policy in global, regional, bilateral and multilateral contexts. During the lecture Ambassador Paula J. Dobriansky discussed American techniques and practice, the Role of Congress and Foreign Policy Tools. Participants of the speech learned about “Soft Power”, non-governmental stakeholders and the most effective national security strategies. The lecture provided an excellent foundation and understanding of the various challenges in decision-making and the range of policy instruments to address them. Secret negotiations are also worth emphasizing e.g in the early 2010s, the Obama administration secretly communicated with Iran about a potential nuclear deal. The meeting was a valuable expierience for all students. They could learn lots of U.S policy , all processes which concern the management of the state or working in the capitol. How about you ? Would you like to take part in an interview like that ?
